Wheel Alignment
What is Wheel Alignment?

Wheel alignment, or ‘tracking’ as it is often referred too, is a vital part of vehicle maintenance. Manufactures use multi-link and adjustment suspension designs while increasing the sizes of wheels to benefit handling at high and low speeds. No longer is a simple ‘toe-in/ toe-out’ sufficient to ensure your vehicle handles as the manufacture intended. The correct vehicle wheel alignment is also vital for helping fuel economy and extending tyre life, therefore saving you money.

How to determine if wheel alignment is required?

  • The most noticeable sign for a lot of people is that the steering wheel is un-level/misaligned whilst driving in a straight line

  • Premature or uneven tyre wear

  • If your vehicle pulls to the left or right whilst driving, which can be more noticeable at high speeds

  • After having any suspension or steering repairs carried out, it is advised to have the wheel alignment properly checked.

  • After tyre replacement, it is advised to have the wheel alignment properly checked to maximise tyre life, therefor saving you money.

  • After hitting a kerb or pothole, it is advised to have the wheel alignment properly checked as this can damage steering or suspension components.

Benefits of wheel alignment

  • Reduces excess tyre wear/ extends your tyre life.

  • Improves fuel economy and reduces emissions due to rolling resistance being lower.

  • Makes your vehicle safer to drive and improves handling.

  • Early indication of component failure, meaning no costly repair bills later along.
